How hail alerts work

Tell us the ZIP codes or states you care about and the smallest hail size worth a drive. After a storm, SwathIQ samples NOAA's MRMS radar (the same MESH estimate behind the hail map); when hail at or above your threshold shows up in your area, you get an email -- or a text, if you added a number. Each alert links straight to the map for that date so you can see the swath and pull a route. It's the fastest way to be first to the door after a damaging hailstorm.

Why size threshold matters

Roof damage generally starts around 1″ hail and gets serious at 1.5″ and up. Setting your threshold filters out the pea-size noise so you only hear about storms worth chasing. Homeowners can set it lower to catch anything near the house.

FAQ

Are hail alerts free?

Data & method: NOAA MRMS MESH radar + NOAA/NWS SPC reports. Alerts are radar-indicated and best-effort -- informational only, not a guarantee of damage or a valid claim.
